The President of the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (IPCC), Prof. Stephan Wassong, visited the headquarters of the International Olympic Academy (IOA) in Athens on 25th February. He met the newly elected President of the IOA, Dr Charilaos Tsolakis, and gave a detailed presentation on the history and profile of the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee. The meeting was also attended by the Director of the IOA, Dr Makis Asimakopoulos. The Dean of the IOA, Prof. Kostas Georgiadis, joined the meeting via zoom (photo 1).

Stephan Wassong also met with senior IOA staff, including Stella Tachtara and Christos Staliarakis (photo 2). They worked on the final preparation for the IPCC meetings at the IOA which will be held from 24 to 27 April 2025. Around 70 members of the IPCC will be in Olympia to celebrate the institution’s 50th anniversary and to discuss its four-year plan.

The events in Olympia will follow on from the IPCC’s Jubilee Event, held in Lausanne on 18-19 January, where recommendations were made regarding the strategic planning of the organisation’s future profile. These recommendations will be the subject of discussion and the road map for future activities will be endorsed.

Lausanne and the IOA in Olympia are unique and authentic place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the IPCC.
