Don Alberto – Promoting Olympism and the legacy of Pierre de Coubertin
Alberto Eugenio Moro (1931 – 2025), honorary member of the Pierre de Coubertin Committee of Argentina, has passed away. The International Pierre de Coubertin Committee expresses its gratitude and bids farewell to the founder and director of the Pierre de Coubertin Sports Museum in La Falda, Córdoba, Argentina.
Don Alberto was a passionate sportsman throughout his life, but also a passionate promoter of Pierre de Coubertin’s educational project. As an athlete, coach, manager, institutional representative and founder, curator and director of the Pierre de Coubertin Olympic Sports Museum, he has always understood and actively participated in the development of Coubertin’s project.
His entire life was dedicated to the development of amateur sport. He participated in four Olympic Games, six Pan American Games and two Odesur Games as a member of the Argentine delegation.
His life as an athlete was very varied, including football, boxing, gymnastics, swimming, trampolining and tennis, but also as a teacher and coach for over fifty years. He was an advisor to the Argentine Olympic Committee, president of the Argentine Gymnastics Federation and founder of the Argentine Federation of Acrobatic Sports.
Alberto Moro was a visionary, an expert and a loyal supporter of the ideals of Coubertin. He can be described in many different fields of action. Indeed, he was a permanent addition to Coubertin’s Olympism.
