We are pleased to formally announce that the Olympic Museum publication How Well Do You Know the Olympic Games? has been translated into the Swahili language by our distinguished member, Mr. Muharam Mchume. This translation has received official approval from the Ministry of Education and Culture of the United Republic of Tanzania, which has further authorized its distribution across educational institutions nationwide. An electronic copy has also been deposited with the Olympic World Library at the Olympic Studies Centre in Lausanne.

Mr. Muharam Mchume has been awarded an official diploma by the Ministry of Culture of Tanzania in recognition of his status as a certified translator.

He recently represented the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee at an International Swahili Symposium, during which he presented the two translations he has completed to date: Pierre de Coubertin’s Olympic Memoirs and How Well Do You Know the Olympic Games? The symposium convened representatives from a wide range of institutions to deliberate on the development and promotion of the Swahili language at both national and international levels.

Among the international institutions represented were BBC Swahili, Deutsche Welle (DW), RT, NHK World Japan, and China Radio and Television (Swahili Service). In light of these contributions, the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee is duly recognized as a stakeholder in the advancement of the Swahili language.

The Committee expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Muharam Mchume for his outstanding efforts in promoting and disseminating the works of Pierre de Coubertin worldwide.
