Electoral General Assembly

The Association of National Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Africa held its Electoral General Assembly on 19 September 2026, bringing together representatives of National Pierre de Coubertin Committees from across the African continent. 

The following National Committees were represented at the General Assembly: Algeria, Cameroon, Congo, The Gambia, Ghana, Mauritius, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Senegal and Tanzania. 

The Electoral General Assembly marked an important stage in strengthening the structure and coordination of the Pierre de Coubertin network in Africa. Through the election of its leadership for the 2026–2030 term, the Association renewed its commitment to promoting Pierre de Coubertin’s educational and humanistic legacy and to advancing Olympic values through education, sport, culture and cooperation among African National Committees. 

Following the voting process, the members elected the new leadership of the Association for the period 2026–2030:

The newly elected leadership reflects the geographical diversity of the African Pierre de Coubertin network and brings together expertise in education, youth, sport, culture, institutional relations, international cooperation and community development. 

During the 2026–2030 mandate, the Association will seek to further strengthen cooperation among the National Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Africa, encourage the development of new educational initiatives, expand the network of Pierre de Coubertin Schools, promote greater participation of young people, and foster exchanges of good practices across the continent. 

Particular importance will also be given to cooperation between Africa and other regions of the international Pierre de Coubertin network. Building on the growing dialogue among National Committees, the Association will contribute to developing joint educational and cultural initiatives capable of translating Olympic values into meaningful action within schools and communities. 

The International Pierre de Coubertin Committee congratulates Dr. Evele Malik Atour and all members of the newly elected leadership and wishes them every success in carrying out their responsibilities during the 2026–2030 term. 

Their election opens a new chapter for the Pierre de Coubertin network in Africa—one founded on cooperation, education, youth engagement and a contemporary understanding of Pierre de Coubertin’s educational vision.
