Japan Olympic Museum

The Japan Olympic Museum in Tokyo officially opened its doors to the public in September 2019. A highlight of the opening was the unveiling of a bust of Pierre de Coubertin donated to the museum by the CIPC. The new museum is very modern, with its Welcome, Exhibition and Monument Area being especially attractive for visitors across all age groups. The museum’s objectives can be best described by the following three quotes taken from its welcome flyer:
An Olympic museum for everyone!
There is more to do than just look! There is a museum where you can learn, touch, experience, and trace the future of the Olympic Games together.
Bringing Olympism right up close!
A series of exciting activities combining sports and culture. A fun and easy-to-understand look at the value of the Olympic Games.
Enjoy the Olympic Games even more!
Here we have precious Olympic Games-related experiences available nowhere else. There is definitely something to look forward to. In January 2020 a Coubertin exhibition will be opened. On the occasion of the opening, Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong will deliver two keynote lectures for different target groups at the museum.
