We are proud to announce and share with our members and readers the latest publication that explores the many dimensions of Olympism and Olympic education.

This book is a remarkable milestone that will benefit all those who teach, research or are simply interested in the Olympic Movement and its educational function in society at large. It reflects different perspectives on the educational, historical, sociological and philosophical dimensions of Olympism and Olympic education. It clarifies the complex concepts of Olympism and its scale values.

The message of this book is: Olympic education is a central pillar of Olympism. It takes a multidisciplinary approach and its message is spread through 16 chapters covering a wide range of topics related to Olympism, such as: “Institutional Foundation of Sports for All at the IOC”, “Social Media Use for Promoting Olympism and Olympic Education” and “The Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games from the Perspective of Olympic Education”. Several members of the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (CIPC) contributed as chapter editors to this book: Stephan Wassong, Lamartine DaCosta, Christian Wacker, Hilla Davidov, Konstantinos Georgiadis and Nelson Todt.

From an institutional point of view, it is the product of excellent work and cooperation between two universities, the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil and the German Sport University Cologne (GSU), Germany.  You may access the publication here:
