On 2 September 2024, the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (IPCC) commemorated the day on which Pierre de Coubertin passed away in 1937. We are grateful to the City of Lausanne for allowing us to mark this day in the place where Pierre de Coubertin lived, worked and created the first IOC Olympic Museum and the IOC Archives. We were able to share the views of the interior of the Villa Mon-Repos by video conference with our members of the Latin American Centre for Coubertinian Studies and the Association of National Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Africa.

The introduction to the event was given by Prof. Daniel de la Cueva, President of the National Pierre de Coubertin Committee of Argentina and President of the Latin American Centre for Coubertinian Studies.

A speech on the Olympic values, their contemporary reading and their impact on today’s society was given by the IPCC President, Prof. Dr Stephan Wassong. We would like to thank Prof. Nelson Todt, President of the Brazilian Pierre de Coubertin Committee, Thomas Bolaño, President of the Colombian Pierre de Coubertin Committee, Prof. Malik Atour Evele, President of the National Pierre de Coubertin Committee of Cameroon and of the African Association of Pierre de Coubertin Committees for their words of appreciation dedicated to Pierre de Coubertin.
