On October 10–11, 2025, Guatemala will host the Fifth Latin American Pierre de Coubertin Symposium, convening students, Olympic athletes, scholars, and representatives of National Pierre de Coubertin Committees from seven countries. The proceedings will take place in the Main Auditorium (Aula Magna IGLU) of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, with simultaneous live streaming to facilitate international participation.

The Symposium will address critical and transformative perspectives on Olympism. The thematic program includes discussions on Olympic values and social transformation, health and mental well-being, ethical dimensions of sports management, community-based experiences, Indigenous perspectives, and the education of refugee youth.

This academic gathering underscores the continued significance of Pierre de Coubertin’s legacy while fostering spaces for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the construction of interdisciplinary bridges between sport, education, and culture throughout Latin America.

The International Pierre de Coubertin Committee would like to extend its gratitude to Dr. Danilo Ponciano, the president of the National Pierre de Coubertin Committee of Guatemala, and his team for their meticulous organisation of this event.
