A Life of Lasting Impact
It has become a valued tradition and an important legacy of the Centro Latinoamericano de Estudios Coubertinianos to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of Pierre de Coubertin.
On 1st January 2026, an international meeting of great significance was held virtually, bringing together members from Latin America and Europe. Each participant was invited to share a few words reflecting their personal perspective on Pierre de Coubertin.
A particularly insightful contribution was presented by Prof. Laura Moreira, President of the Pierre de Coubertin Committee of Costa Rica: Museum of Ideas: A Life of Lasting Impact – Commemorating the Legacy of Pierre de Coubertin in Latin America. The presentation was spread in six chapters:

Ethics, values and fair play
Peace, brotherhood and universality
Community, inclusion and youth
Leadership, service and vision
Prof. Laura Moreira concluded her presentation with a message: A life of lasting impact is when ideals are put into practice: education, values, community.
