The International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (IPCC) proudly continues its long-standing tradition of active participation in the educational programmes of the International Olympic Academy (IOA). For many years, members of the IPCC have been invited to contribute to the Academy’s annual sessions and seminars as supervising professors, lecturers, and participants, reflecting the close cooperation between the two institutions in promoting Olympic education and research.

For more than two decades, Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong has played a significant role within the IOA. His responsibilities have steadily expanded, particularly following his appointment to the Scientific Board of the International Olympic Academy in 2022 and to the IOC Olympic Education Commission in 2015. Through these roles, he has contributed to strengthening the academic dimension of Olympic education and fostering dialogue on the contemporary challenges facing the Olympic Movement.

During the 33rd International Seminar on Olympic Studies for Postgraduate Students, held from 3 to 25 July 2026 in Ancient Olympia, Greece, Prof. Wassong delivered a series of lectures addressing key topics of contemporary Olympism, including Olympism from a Historical and Contemporary Perspective, The Responsibilities of the IOC Athletes’ Commission, Political Challenges for the IOC, and The Institutional Fight against Doping. His presentations encouraged critical reflection on the evolution of the Olympic Movement and its relevance in today’s world.

The IPCC was also represented by Dante Parra (Argentina), Elba Tomassoni (Argentina), and Uma Kant Singh (India). As postgraduate participants, they presented projects illustrating how Olympic education can be successfully implemented in schools and sports clubs. Their contributions demonstrated not only a profound understanding of Olympic philosophy but also an inspiring ability to translate Olympic values into practical educational initiatives within their respective communities.

The International Pierre de Coubertin Committee warmly congratulates the International Olympic Academy for the outstanding organization of the 33rd International Seminar on Olympic Studies for Postgraduate Students. This internationally recognized academic programme continues to make a vital contribution to the development of future scholars, educators, and leaders committed to the ideals of Olympism.

The IPCC extends its appreciation to Prof. Dr. Konstantinos Georgiadis, Dean of the International Olympic Academy and member of the IPCC Board, for his unwavering commitment to advancing Olympic education at the highest international level. His dedication has ensured that the IOA remains the world’s foremost centre for the study, teaching, and dissemination of Olympic values.
