Univ.-Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong, Chair of the Institute of Sports History and Director of the Olympic Studies Center, was invited as keynote speaker to the 4th International Session for Olympic Medalists or Olympians by the International Olympic Academy (IOA) in Olympia. The session, which ran from July 2nd to July 8th 2018, was attended by 35 Olympians from 23 countries. The presentation of Prof. Wassong on the activities of the Athletes` Commission of the International Olympic Committee has been received with interest by the athletes and discussed in many ways. It is precisely these discussions that show, said Prof. Wassong in an interview at the IOA, that the responsibilities of national and international athletes’ commissions should be further strengthened and supported by full-time staff.
