The President of the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (CIPC), Prof. Dr. Stephan Wassong, has been re-appointed Adjunct Professor for three more years at the School of Health Sciences, University of Canterbury (UC), New Zealand. The reason for the re-appointment was the successful cooperation between the Institute of Sport History and the Olympic Study Center of the German Sport University Cologne (GSU) and the New Zealand Center for Olympic Studies (NZCOS) at UC for the period 2016 to 2019. Thus, the initiated cooperation projects in research and teaching will be continued and expanded. This includes, amongst others, the increased involvement of NZOS in the international study programme M.A. Olympic Studies and the joint publication of the e-journal Diagoras. International Academic Journal on Olympic Studies. The former initiative is relevant for the CIPC as it is an official partner in the editing team composed of Professor Ian Culpan (New Zealand Centre for Olympic Studies), Professor Emilio Fernández (Olympic Studies Centre of the Autonomous University of Barcelona) and Professor Stephan Wassong (Olympic Studies Centre of the German Sport University Cologne and International Pierre de Coubertin Committee). In addition, this re-appointment of Professor Wassong will give strong support and visibility to the CIPC and its projects in New Zealand.
