A new horizon opens for the CIPC and other institutions recognized by the IOC
International Pierre de Coubertin Committee members had joined members of the International Society of Olympic Historians (ISOH), the International Fair Play Committee (IFPC) and Panathlon International at a gathering in Paris during an Olympic Games for the first time.
The gathering had been coordinated by ISOH Treasurer Hector Argüelles with the intention of developing greater links between the four organisations, which have all been recognised by the IOC.
“We have so much knowledge in this room it is our duty to pass this on” said ISOH President Christian Wacker as he welcomed a gathering of more than 60.
They also included International Olympic Committee Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage Director Angelita Teo and Olympic Studies Centre Head Maria Bogner.
Guests were given an introduction to the history and background of the four organisations during the afternoon. It is likely that this gathering will become a regular event at future Olympics.
A new translation of Pierre de Coubertin’s Writings into Arabic has been presented at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (IPCC) President Stephan Wassong was on hand to receive one of the first copies from Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum Director Abdulla Al Mulla.
“We are delighted that there has been a collaboration with the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum in the development of this project to translate the work into Arabic“ Wassong explained.
The finished volume includes a foreword by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach and introduction by IPCC President Wassong. “Credit has to be given to the late Norbert Muller for initiating this project more than ten years ago. It opens up Coubertin’s work to more than 220 million Arabic speakers but it could not have been completed without the enthusiastic and tireless support of Abdullah al Mulla,” Wassong insisted.
